Are Energy Drinks Really Beneficial Or Not

Posted by on Apr 15, 2013 in Uncategorized

There is an increasing trend among the teenagers, young adults and athletes to take plenty of energy drinks to maintain and in some cases restore energy.  These drinks come with attractive shapes enclosed in stylish bottles with high claims by the manufacturing companies. But the point here is that whether these drinks are actually beneficial for health or not.

What are the Energy Drinks?

Energy drinks are usually those drinks that are designed to provide energy and strength to people for different purposes. For instances, there are special energy drinks for athletes and there are some general ones as well that everyone can use. These drinks mostly contain caffeine, a energy boosting substance in addition with other minor ingredients such as guarana, taurine and Vitamin B12 that are associated with higher levels of energy and endurance.

Let us examine these ingredients one by one.

  • Caffeine:

Almost all sorts of coffees have been used for centuries as an energy stimulant because they contain and ingredient with the name of caffeine.  Caffeine not only boosts energy but it is an antioxidant and provides many other health benefits like weight loss and normal cognitive activities. However, caffeine itself is a drug and overuse can cause many adverse side effects. Nonetheless, if a healthy adult consumes as much as 400 mg of caffeine, then there is no harm associated with it.

  • Taurine:

Taurine is a naturally occurring substance in the human body and it is also found in the protein rich foods like dairy products and meats.  Taurine is usually essential for prevention of high blood pressure, fighting diabetes and improved focus. Although it is found in regular food yet safe and healthy energy drinks can fill up the gap in nutrition left by unbalanced diet.

  • Vitamins:

Another important ingredient of energy drinks is vitamin B6 that is necessary for increasing the rate of body metabolism, and conversion of proteins and fats into energy. Again, the daily diet is enough to meet all the requirements of vitamins and energy drinks should only be used to overcome any deficiency left by diet not as the primary source of vitamins.

  • Creatine:

Creatine is an excellent substance as far as decreasing recovery time after any sort of exhaustion and for rebuilding muscles and stimulation of energy production. In fact, creatine is one of the most ingredient in almost all sorts of energy and sports drinks and can provide welcome relieve from fatigue and tiredness.

  • Herbs:

Finally energy drinks incorporates many herbs including well known ginseng, ginko biloba and others. Ginseng is especially popular for speeding up the process of healing and improved overall wellbeing. Furthermore, it is also great for lowering the blood pressure and maintaining blood sugar as well.

Conclusion:

Concluding it can be said that energy drinks do have some benefits as well as posing some side effects as well. The key here is that people need to use these drinks moderately to avoid any health scares. Furthermore, people should also verify the reliability and reputation of any supplements and should read the reviews and comments of experts and prominent fitness personalities about any product.

Fracking, Contaminated Water, People are Suing!

What would you do if your water that was once healthy, and drinkable, suddenly turns into a toxic health hazard? Well call the lawyers and sue! Yeah, that will help, right? It may help put more focus on the problem, but will it solve anything? Are they going to suddenly stop the hydraulic fracturing process? I think not, whatever these law suits costs big oil, it most certainly won’t stop them.

Let’s go over it again; Hydraulic Fracturing is the process to harvest natural gas from the Earth. The process involves injecting a water/sand/and?? who knows what else into a very deep hole in the ground. During this process, the Earth’s core is literally filled up with holes, letting this toxic soup spew into the cracks. Where does the toxic water go? Well, some soaks into the ground where it will contaminate the soil. some will also end up in the water supply.

There is currently no way of knowing what all is in fracking water, so there is no way to decontaminate it. Water filters will help, but there are many unknowns contained in fracking water.

Law suits will draw more attention to the problem, but it may not solve a thing. The people bringing the suit may get a big payoff, and that might help them some, but by now, not only is their water contaminated, but the people may even be ill from exposure. So the cash they get, may just cover some of the medical bills that will no doubt begin to pile up, if they haven’t already.

Kudos to the plaintiffs, I sincerely do hope they get something. Shame on “Big Oil” for destroying our drinking water, our land, our food supply, and our families.

Want to jump on the law suit band wagon? Well here is the official settlement site.

Thanks to The Watchers for bringing this to our attention.

This is The Worlds Best Cat Litter

Posted by on Jun 4, 2012 in conserve, Live Green

Way back in February 2012, I picked up a new bag of The Worlds Best Cat Litter for our cat. Well, before I got it changed, the cat came up missing. So I emptied the litter box, but did not fill it. After a few weeks of our cat not coming home, I gave up and just put the new bag of the worlds best cat litter away.

Booger KittyNow, we have a new feline friend. His name is Booger. That’s him, there on the left. He loves to lay in my flowers.  The silly kitty. I think its ’cause his back is all black, and his tummy has some white on it so he stays cooler on his back.

Well, Booger has been using the Worlds Best Cat Litter for a while now, and he seems to like it just fine. As for me, it smells great. I got the scented multiple cat formula, and let me tell you, so far it is the best litter I have used.

The litter clumps very well, and we are on day 20 and it still smells very nice in the cat box room. It is also the laundry room, so there is a decent amount of foot traffic, believe me, the other household members would let me know if the cat box smelled bad.

Before we got a new cat, my husband needed something to clean up some oil on the garage floor, so I had him try some Worlds Best Cat Litter, and ya know what? It worked to clean that up too!

My personal opinion, The all natural, Worlds Best Cat Litter, truly is the best. I will be a returning customer.
